The Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir (AIGC) is located in Arcata, California, USA.
As of 2009, the choir has been in existence for 17 years. From year to year the choir consists of a varying number of vocalists (2009 membership about 80 adults), a director Jim Hubbard and accompanists. The choir has toured in the west coast of the US, and produced a CD in 2005.
The Non-Profit AIGC Organization holds auditions every September.
The principal purpose of the AIGC is:
To acknowledge the inspiration of Black Gospel Music to express its power of Spirit and Creation.
To bring a message of faith, hope, love and joy to our community and the world.
To exemplify through interfaith, multi-racial and multi-cultural membership the principles of equality, justice, peace, unity and cooperation.
To enable our human family to experience community in fellowship, celebrating unity in diversity through our music.
The choir was formed in 1992 after the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir,[1] came to Arcata to perform. This event occurred synchronistically the weekend after the riots in Los Angeles following the Rodney King verdict.
